Literacy for a Lifetime™ is a matching grant program partnering Educational Development Corporation (EDC) with businesses, foundations, and individuals to support literacy & learning, and our national, district and local educational institutions.  EDC is the leading publisher of children’s non-fiction books in the United States.

What type of grant qualifies?
 Any grant, gift or donation that is not part of the regular budget. 
These funds - local, regional or national - could include:

  • Board of Education award grants
  • Kiwanis education grants
  • PTA funds for teachers
  • foundation rewards for teaching excellence
  • title 1 grants for special needs resources
  • grants to expand a library
  • donations for Autism, Asperger, ADD, and other special needs resources
  • speech & hearing grants
  • church members' donations to provide books to a sister church
  • grants requiring 'in kind contributions'
  • Rotary Club donations
  • gifted money to send books overseas with missionaries
  • Community service project funds - Boy Scout, Girl Scout, YMCA, YWCA, youth groups or classes
  • Local or national company education grants
  • collected donations to benefit children home, battered women's center, or other charities
  • donations for books for children's hospitals
  • grants for distance learning resources
  • grants for after school programs

Donations made to the educational institution are tax deductible for corporations, foundations, and individuals.
There are over 1500 Usborne titles to choose from, with varied subjects and multiple binding options, as well as Kid Kits which include something special with the book to enhance the educational experience.
$200 minimum LFL order to get free shipping.  8% shipping is charged on orders less than $200.  You may combine smaller orders submitted together & to be shipped together to reach the $200 (such as PTA funds for teachers).

What to do next
 Once you have received the grant or donation, you can fill out the book order form and grant info form and send with payment info to the address/FAX# listed below.
We accept Purchase Orders, requests for invoicing, checks (payable to Usborne Books), & credit cards - Mastercard, Visa, & Discover.
Include the tax exempt number, if applicable.
Orders are processed quickly, usually next business day shipping by UPS.
